To Search for Information
To find information on a topic, using the search textbox on the left hand side, type in the search parameters, e.g., Jacinto or MP Map and then click on the Search button. You can also use the Go button, but that will only provide results that match your parameters exactly.
To Create a New Page
There are several ways to creating a new page:
A. Create a link to the page on another page, then click on the red link which appears.
or
B. Look at the URL above. It should be http..../the-stranded.com/wiki/Main_Page. Delete the words Main_Page and add the name of the page you would like to create, for example, Jim_Rocks. Now the URL in the address bar should look like this: http...the-stranded.com/wiki/Jim_Rocks. Press enter (Return) on your keyboard, and your browser will take you to that as yet non-existent page. Click the create tab, or edit page, and you will be able to create that new page. When you have finished adding content, don't forget to click Save Page at the bottom.
When creating pages, please be mindful of the page names that you choose, that they are unique and that they will be "search-able".
To Edit a Page
To edit a page, simply click the edit link that appears at the top of each page. A form will appear, containing the existing markup. When you have finished making modifications, click the Save page button to commit your changes.
To Upload an Image
1. Click on the Upload file link on the left hand side in the Toolbox. 2. Click on the Browse... button to find the file that you wish to upload. 3. Confirm that the Designation filename is appropriate, add a Summary if you wish 4. Click the Upload file button and wait for the file to be uploaded.
Note: if they are personal images, please start with your user name for the destination file name. (e.g., RoBBins_Chest_Hair or RoBBins_Headshot_264b) .
For other images and page names, just look around the site and consider the names of the files already in use, then imitate the structure. At this point, a single image must be less than 7MB. Finally, please consider that children may be viewing the site, so NOT all images may be appropriate for the wiki.
